April newsletter

Ah ... Tofino, BC. If you're reading this newsletter over Spring Break, I am currently in Tofino, enjoying a wild coast Spring Break with my family. I hope you are enjoying your moment of rest during the month of March, whether you're away on vacation or at home on our beautiful island.
Here is all the news for the month of April. Please read it carefully as there is a lot of information.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to (belated) Helya in California (online lesson student), Bijou and Elwyn (all are teen students). We wish each of you the happiest birthday, and a great celebration!
FESTIVAL : Some Pacific Melody Music students are performing in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival which begins with piano adjudication right after Easter. For more information please visit www.gvpaf.org. Thank you to all students for understanding that this is a very busy 2 weeks in the studio following Easter.
SENIOR PERFORMING CLASS: Senior students (ages 12 and up) are invited to attend a performance class in the studio on Saturday April 28 from 1-2pm. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your peers in the studio, talk about performing and recital ideas, and play music for each other, discuss advanced topics relating to piano and the Baroque era. This is included in tuition, similarly to the way the Christmas party was. Please RSVP to 250-885-4630 with a text to say "Yes" I'm attending or "No" we are unable to attend if your student is 12 or over. Deadline to register is April 20.
RECITAL/CONCERT: A notice was sent out to announce our Spring/Summer recital on Saturday June 23rd, 2pm at Tom Lee Music in Langford. This is a wonderful new venue for our studio with a magnificent grand piano! Come and celebrate the music of students for approximately 1 hour and hear from our guest Composer, Christie Morrison, of Vocally Sound Academy who was recently inducted as an award winning composer. Christie and I are long time friends, and colleagues and she will be demonstrating her song cycle with some of her voice students at our recital. The goal is to encourage all music students to be bold in trying to write their own compositions!
Rather than a reception after the recital, families are invited to join Christie and I and our students at Milestones in the Millstream Village plaza. We trust it will be a wonderful event for everyone, and students are strongly encouraged to take part in this performance.
Piano classes continue in this term up until Friday June 22nd, followed by the recital. The studio will be sending home re-registration information, as well as piano summer camp information this month. Please watch for this and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful Spring Break, and I look forward to seeing everyone back in the studio on Tuesday, April 3. Happy Easter!
