  Introduction Program

It is very important to choose the right first teacher.  Paula meets with students as young as 4 and their caregivers to plan a curriculum that is comprehensive and enjoyable.  A variety of piano method books are used in the studio along with a vast amount of supplementary material that Ms. Paula chooses for each student.  Students are welcome to bring music they want to learn as they progress.  Improvisation, transposition, ear training, and technology are all a part of this dynamic teaching studio from the very first lesson.

Creativity

Ms. Paula studied with teachers including VCM faculty Robin and Winnifred Scott Wood, Frances Perriam, and Dorothy Hawes.  She believes in playing from the heart, not just from the printed page.  Many students bring their school requirements to Ms. Paula to work towards in the studio such as the Duke Of Edinburgh award and college entrance requirements.

  Yearly Program

Paula's students study all styles of piano and keyboard music, from a foundation in classical music, to jazz, pop, rock, gospel, contemporary and from a variety of musical methods and sources.  Paula is always bringing something new to the studio to keep students motivated, and lessons fun.  Technology is a part of the studio lessons, keeping students on the current edge of music learning.  The studio calendar runs from mid September until the beginning of June and features many opportunities for students both individually and collaboratively.  Students who love to perform will also be offered numerous opportunities.  The studio door is always open to students families to come in, talk music, and sit in on a lesson.
